Health Guidelines

As we reflect on the past few years, we are proud of how our little preschool community navigated the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Your cooperation and understanding have been vital in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

While the immediate threat of COVID-19 has diminished, we remain committed to a healthy school environment. Our preschool continues to follow the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) guidelines to mitigate the spread of any illness that may affect our community. Here are some reminders to stay diligent:

  1. Daily Health Checks: Monitor for signs of illness daily. Watch for fever (100.5 and above), cough, runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea. If your child is exhibiting any of these symptoms please keep them home until symptoms have subsided for 24 hours.

  2. Hygiene Practices: Frequent handwashing, proper sneezing techniques, and coughing etiquette are taught in school and should be practiced at home. We continue to sanitize high-touch surfaces as part of our daily routine.

  3. Communication: Open communication is imperative to keep us all healthy. If your child or family member becomes ill with any contagious illness, please let us know.

If you have any questions or concerns about the QHS health policy, please contact our office. Your child's medical provider is the best place to contact if you have any other concerns. You may refer to the CDC guidelines here

Our Covid-19 Response History

On March 16th, 2020, Quarry Hill School ceased operations for the 2019-20 school year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We provided remote supports and learning opportunities for our students as well as regular contact and supports with families. Our last day of the year was celebrated with a physically distanced Rainbow parade in the parking lot at school.

Playgroup was cancelled for the summer, as our drop-in model did not fit the Vermont guidelines for childcare and group gatherings.

Throughout the stay at home orders and the summer, the teaching team was in regular contact to thoughtfully develop plans for the 2020-21 school year that incorporate the utmost safety and confidence.

The board has met behind the scenes to support our fiscal integrity. We successfully participated in the Vermont Childcare Stabilization Program -- procuring tuition dollars from state funding rather than parents. We also applied for and received a Payroll Protection Plan loan from the federal government, which further secured our solvency throughout the pandemic. CRRSA and ARPA dollars provided additional support.

Quarry Hill School was open for the 2020-21 school year with an outdoor classroom and programming. We were exclusively outdoors until Thanksgiving.

With the ongoing pandemic, operations throughout the 2021-22 school year have continued to maintain best practices for health and safety for our learning community.

We remain grateful for the trust and support of our families, teachers, and board.
